Psychiatric Drugs Explained, David Healy
Совершенно случайно стала читать эту книгу - Амир попросил вернуть её в библиотеку.
Quite an interesting book that contains a comprehensive guide to the uses, benefits, and impact of psychotropic drugs.
Below are a couple of quotes from the introduction that, I believe, raise the most important problems in today's psychiatry.
"(...) there have also been far too many of us who, when faced with complaints about the medications we prescribe, have tended almost reflexively to increase the dose of what has been prescribed or to add some antidote to counteract the side effects of the first prescription, rather than listening to the substance of the complaint.
(...) A diversity of responses, rather than uniformity, should be expected. Nevertheless, in practice prescribers tend to operate as though uniform responses were norm. It is emerging that in some cases this inflexibility may be fatal. Where psychological problems are concerned, however, we have traditionally had the escape route of blaming the undesirable behaviour of our patients - such as their killing themselves because the drugs we prescribe make therapy worse - on the neurosis or irritability that brought them for treatment in the first instance.
(...) even biologically reductionist programme could have benefited significantly from paying more heed to the statements of psychotropic drug takers. For example, I believe, there would never have been a dopamine hypothesis of schizophrenia if the statements of individuals who took neuroleptics had been taken into account.
What seems to be important today is the re-creation of a science of pharmacopsychology. Such a science would work closely with the takers of psychotropic drugs to determine what changes they experience on the compounds they take, in an effort to work back from those experiences to an understanding of how the mind works." |

Ночь. Холод. Осень. Вот так вот медленно, со временем, начинаешь понимать что пить тебе нельзя. После шумной ночи приходит новый день непременно несущий с собой депрессивное состояние.
Головная боль утихла. Тело перестало быть невыносимо тяжёлым. Остались лёгкая грусть и осень. И уже давно устаявшеесе чувство усталости. Со временем привыкаешь и даже научаешься не обращать внимания. Не стоит зацикливаться на том что превратилось "норму".
Стало глупо мечтать о том что когда-нибудь я напишу книгу. или вообще что-нибудь напишу.
Хорошо что есть гитара... |

From all the languages that I know (well... I don't know that many, but still...) English is the only one that could allow you to write a story in first person sing. from which one would never know whether the main character is a male or a female. That might be quite interesting to do. And then, what would the translations look like? |

Не то что бы меня очень волнует вопрос существования Бога, но мне нравится строение вольтеровсткой фразы. нравится как используя сомнительный оборт речи, вольтер подтверждает существование бога. просто хорошо сказано.
Недавно один человек мне сказал - "ты же веришь в Бога". это звучало как утвердительный вопрос. Забавно как люди превращают вопрос в утвердительное предложение когда они боятся что ответ их не устроит. Я промолчала. Я считаю себя агностиком и Бог меня мало интересует.
It's funny how we have all these specific words for arts, science, religion. In the sense they can be easily interchanged. Science may be a religion/art just as religion/art can be a science. At the same time, saying "science is an art" is not the same thing as saying "art is a science".
And all this is called philosophy. funny. |
